How to Grow Squash

The Little Dipper is a “mini” traditional-shaped butternut squash that literally can make a personal-sized delicious meal! This tasty squash variety weighs in at about 2 pounds per fruit. The Little Dipper's plant habit is full vine with vigorous growth and has potential to produce a high amount of very uniform, orange-colored fruit.

The Buttercup Burgess is a great squash with a nice, sweet flesh that keeps very well. This variety is a relatively early maturing winter squash. The Buttercup Burgess' plant is bushy and fairly compact.

In our opinion the best tasting small butternut squash on the market. Flesh is sweet and rich with amazing flavor. This is the perfect squash for farmers' markets and home gardens. At maturity this squash will weight 2 lbs and stores for over 3 months once picked. PMR: Powdery Mildew Resistant. AAS Winner.

The Italian Cocozelle is a bush type of squash plant that produces high yields of the long, tender, dark green fruits. This Italian zucchini is very flavorful and tender. This variety is best when harvested at 12" long or smaller. The Cocozelle is excellent for slicing, frying, and steaming and is also a good freezing and canning variety. Pick often when the squash is young to prolong harvest. Harvesting zucchini when it is young and tender offers the best flavor and eating quality. San Isidro is a Mexican-type grey zucchini that is popular in gourmet dishes. Open, erect plants are nearly spineless reducing damage to fruit during harvest. Strong, durable plants are highly productive due to its ability to tolerate disease pressure. Adapts well to large patio containers.

The Scallop Early White Squash, also known as Patty Pan, tastes great when harvested early at smaller size. This variety produces good yields of white squash. The Scallop Early White is very easy to grow and is rarely bothered by insects. The Scallop Early White is a bush type of squash that has a creamy texture that is very flavorful, suitable for both small home gardens and market growers.

The Waltham Butternut Squash is an easy to grow sweet, prolific winter squash. This variety's delicious fine textured flesh and long storage capability definitely makes it the top winter squash choice. The Waltham Butternut Squash has a sweet, almost nutty taste that is similar to a sweet potato. This squash has yellow skin with an orange flesh that when ripe, it turns increasingly deep orange and becomes even sweeter and richer.

Atlas hybrid butternut offers high yields of uniformly-sized and shaped fruit for market growers. Atlas matures in 110 days making it a mid-maturing squash. This plant has strong plant vigor and short vines. The fruit color is cream with dark orange flesh. This winter squash has a cylindrical shape with a slight bulb, making it ideal for processing.

The Cream of the Crop is a white bush-type acorn squash that really is the cream of the crop! This variety is white and on the large side for an acorn, weighing in at 2-3 lb. Cream of the Crop is great picked small and used as a summer squash, or can be left to ripen and used for winter storage. This squash is perfect for those who want to grow a garden in small spaces.

The Table Queen Acorn Squash is a customer favorite winter squash. This variety is a medium sized, acorn shaped, vining type. The flesh of this heirloom acorn is a sweet golden yellow that turns more orange in storage, contrasting with its dark green and ribbed rind. Harvest before frost, leaving part of the stem attached to the fruit.

The Black Beauty Zucchini is a standard zucchini. This vigorous plant produces dark green glossy fruits that tapers towards each end. This zucchini is a very popular variety of summer squash. The Marrow Segev Squash has a small growth habit with great, big yields! This type of squash matures in just 47 days and produces spineless, creamy green fruits. This variety is a parthenocarpic squash so no pollination is needed. The Marrow Segev is known for its rich flavor and white flesh that is resistant to powdery mildew.

The Dark Green Zucchini is the darkest and most tender zucchini we have! This variety has a smooth, straight, green outer skin with a creamy white flesh. Pick at 6-8" for an even more tender flesh, that is perfect for baking into stews or making zucchini bread.

The Yellow Crookneck Squash is the perfect summer squash that has a mild, sweet and full flavored taste. The perfect time to pick this variety is when its young and about 6 inches in size. The inside of the Yellow Crookneck is very tender with a creamy consistency.

The Early Prolific Straightneck Squash is a summer squash that is very popular in the United States. This variety is a tasty, bright yellow, straight-necked type squash that tapers towards the stem end. Dixie F1 is a yellow summer crookneck squash variety that is early, highly productive and vigorous. This squash has a uniform shiny lemon-yellow coloring. Dixie Hybrid squash is tastiest when 4"-6" long.
