Pumpkin

An autumn staple, pumpkins are grown for both decorative and edible purposes. Pumpkins come in many shapes, sizes, colors and uses. From carving to baking you will find several varieties that will meet your needs.

Small Sugar pumpkin seeds produce a beloved heirloom variety that has been grown in North America since the 1800s, cherished for its manageable size and excellent eating quality. These compact, vigorous plants yield round, deep orange pumpkins averaging 6–8 inches across and weighing 5–7 pounds, making them easy to handle and perfect for smaller gardens. Known for their fine-grained, sweet, and flavorful flesh, Small Sugar pumpkins are a classic choice for pies, soups, and baking, often referred to as “pie pumpkins.” They mature in about 95–100 days, thrive in well-drained soil with full sun, and are prized not only for their culinary uses but also for their attractive appearance in autumn decorations.

The Mammoth Gold Pumpkin is a smooth, molted pink golden-orange, faintly ribbed and irregular shaped pumpkin. This variety grows to have an 18-24" diameter and weighs in usually between 40-60 lbs. but can get to be over 100 lbs.! The Mammoth Gold's thick pale yellow-orange flesh is edible but coarse, and can be used for pies as well as novelty.

This is a perfect pumpkin for patches. Uniformly-shaped round fruit is that just-right shape and size! Produces an abundance of sturdy, well-attached spineless handle and medium-dark color. Challenger is perfect for roadside stands and pumpkin patches. Plants stand up strong to Powdery Mildew.

The Harvest King will produce a consistent 25-35 lb. pumpkin. This larger variety has excellent yield and quality. Almost 100% of the pumpkin yields are marketable.

The Jack Be Little is a small pumpkin that is popular in many floral arrangements! This new miniature pumpkin is ideal for small Jack'O Lanterns and other decorations. These easy to grow plants bear several small pumpkins per plant. The Jack Be Little pumpkins are edible, but are more highly valued for their decorative value and will last for months if properly cured!

The Young's Beauty Pumpkin is a very uniform New England Pie variety that is the perfect small pumpkin for Halloween carvings! At only 10-12 pounds, this jack-o-lantern sized pumpkin will look great in a family garden. This deep orange, slightly ribbed variety produces high yields.

These tiny ornamental pumpkins are great for market sellers but also has excellent edible qualities. Bumpkin F1 has a semi bush plant habit with excellent yield potential. Fruit are 2" x 3" and weight about 1/4 lb. with dark orange color and strong dark green handles. An excellent pumpkin for novelty sales.

The White Flat Boer Ford is a true white pumpkin that is perfect for autumn displays! This variety grows to be 3 to 5 inches high and spreads 8 to 12 inches wide. This flat pumpkin can weigh between 10 to 15 pounds! The White Flat Boer Ford has deep ribs that makes for an appealing autumn display, but it also has a delicious eating quality for its aromatic, succulent, and sugary flesh.

The Autumn Buckskin F1 Pumpkin is a buff colored dickenson hybrid that was selected especially for both baking and decorative purposes. This slightly flattened, hardy pumpkin is 8 x 13 inches big weighing at 12-15 pounds! This plant has large vines to produce up to 5 pumpkins per plant.

A great pumpkin for compact growing and Powder Mildew is a concern. Magic Lantern’s produces classic size pumpkins in the 16-24 lb. range with bright orange skins and attractive medium ribs. Growers note good crown set on Magic Lantern’s vines, as well as higher yield per acre from closer planting.

The Casper Pumpkin is a white skinned ornamental pumpkin with a thick orange flesh that is of excellent eating quality. This variety grows to be 9-12 inches in diameter and 10-16 pounds. Casper's handle is tan with a corky texture and its skin has less bluing than many other white varieties.

Early King is great for short growing seasons or planting late in the season. Produces full vines with good yields of 25+ lb. pumpkins. Has a medium-dark orange color and medium sized ribs. Strong stems with tallish-round shape. Good resistance to powdery mildew.

The Cinderella is an excellent pumpkin for canning or baking pies and pumpkin bread as it has a great eating quality! This pumpkin variety is an heirloom variety from France that was selected out of the older variety, Rouge vif d'Etampes. Cinderella has deep ridges and exceptional flatening, making it a beautiful decoration for Halloween and other other fall festivities. This variety's vines are very productive with pumpkins that have grooved, thick walls.

The Cinderella is an excellent pumpkin for canning or baking pies and pumpkin bread as it has a great eating quality! This pumpkin variety is an heirloom variety from France that was selected out of the older variety, Rouge vif d'Etampes. Cinderella has deep ridges and exceptional flatening, making it a beautiful decoration for Halloween and other other fall festivities. This variety's vines are very productive with pumpkins that have grooved, thick walls.

The Dickinson is a smooth large pumpkin perfect for pies! The large buff colored rind is an attractive addition to any pumpkin patch or garden.
