How to Grow Corn

The Bodacious corn is a beautiful, uniform, well-filled ear of corn. This high quality yellow sweet corn that has large, mouth-watering kernels. The Bodacious has 18 rows and 8" ears and its kernels are delicious, sugary and very tender. Bodacious is a great corn for fresh eating, freezing and canning. This variety is a popular yellow market variety that holds well once picked and it tolerates cold weather conditions better than most.

The Sugar Buns is hard to beat as this variety is an old-time favorite with an excellent taste. This corn is an early maturing corn that is very sweet. The Sugar Buns is one of the sweetest of the SE (Sugar Enhanced) genotype and it is definitely a customer favorite!

The Hickory King White is a 12 foot tall corn, you will have to see it to believe it! This variety's large white kernels are not seen in today's corn. Each stalk of the Hickory King White corn produces 2 very large ears that are great for roasting! This corn has a very high leafy green matter which makes it perfect for silage. Its tight husks which help keep out corn worms.

The Incredible is one of the best eating corns around and is just like its name, incredible! This corn has a great sugar content and has an excellent sweet taste. The corn husk offers great protection and grows very attractively. Incredible is a disease resistant corn that is a favorite!

A high yielding mid-season producer of large ears, improved husk protection and ability to handle difficult growing seasons. Does well in home gardens, fresh and shipping markets.

R997 is a mid-season butterfly popcorn with the large orange grain. R997 has long cylinder-shaped ears with easy shelling orange kernels and improved stalk strength. It has wide geographic adaptation and has performed exceptionally internationally. High resistance: Grey Leaf Spot Intermediate Resistance: Common Rust, Northern Corn Leaf Blight, and Drought.

The Robust 98114W White Popcorn has delicious white kernels that, just like its name, makes the perfect popcorn. This white hull-less corn pops very crisp and tender. This corn has an excellent eating quality and improved stalk strength and yield potential.

One of the earliest supersweet corns on the market. Catalyst XR has average ear size, strong tip fill, as well as outstanding kernel color and sweetness. This hybrid is perfect for early fresh markets and home grown.

Solstice is an early maturing, bicolor corn that is part of the Augmented family. This is the fastest maturing corn in the augmented category. Solstice has strong emergence, a good size ear, a strong husk covered tip, and exceptional tip fill. It has a quick snap for ease in picking and a short shank for packaging. Passion corn is one of the most tender and delicious yellow corn you can grow. This corn variety is a very delicious and easy to grow corn. If you want sweet, yellow tender corn with good holding ability after harvesting then the Passion corn variety is for you!

The Jubilee corn variety is an old-time favorite corn. Jubilee is one of the most popular varieties we sell and is excellent for late summer enjoyment. Its stalks reach 6 feet tall, and the 9 inch ears have deep, tender yellow kernels. You can pick it right off the stalk and cook for dinner. Black Amber is a broom corn used for decoration and bird seed. An heirloom sorghum also known as Texas Black Amber Molasses. Stalks were used for forage, silage and sorghum syrup, due to a high sugar content and were used to replace sugar cane. Seed heads are similar to corn tassels but, consist of shiny black hulls encasing amber colored seeds.

Kandy Korn technically is not candy, but its sweetness gives it its name! This corn variety is a long time favorite of most gardeners. Its husk offers burgundy streaks and good protection.

The Country Gentleman corn is one of the best tasting open-pollinated corns available! This heirloom variety is a sweet, delicious corn with milky kernels that was first introduced over 100 years ago. Country Gentleman is a white variety with 8” ears. Its ears have no rows, as this is a shoepeg type, and its kernels are packed in a zigzag pattern. Country Gentleman is one of the best heirloom sweet corns in our opinion!

The Sweet G90 corn is an old farm favorite! Originally offered to Funks seed corn dealers, Sweet G90 still remains a favorite to all. This variety is a reliable, rugged, vigorous hybrid.

The Silver King is earlier than the Silver Queen variety and every bit as tasty. This corn is a Sugar Enhanced corn type that is amongst the earliest corns to mature. With slightly larger ears than of 16 to 18 tightly packed rows of snowy white kernels pack every ear of this succulent corn! The stalks reach 6 to 7 feet high and are wonderfully resilient, tolerating Rust, Stewart's Wilt, and Northern Corn Leaf Blight.

Get a jump start by planting the Trinity corn early in cooler soil! This corn variety is a slender, 8" ear that has 14-16 rows of fine-grained, tender-crisp, very sweet kernels. Trinity as strong germination for early, cool soil planting. The average plant height is 5'. This corn is great for cooler climates!
