Gold Leaf 939 is a bright leaf Virginia type tobacco with very good yields of leaf averaging 12" wide by 20" long. It grow 5-6 feet in height with closely spaced leaves and matures in 60 to 65 days. It has excellent uniformity between plants which makes it easy to manage. Suckering is very low. The leaves turn yellow as it ripens, and air cure to a light golden brown.
PY KY 171 is a pale yellow breeding line that is agronomically comparable to KY 171. It is a dark fire-cured tobacco with high resistance to black root rot, wildfire, and TMV. The plants grow to a height of 5-6 feet to the flower and produce from 14 to 17 leaves per plant. The leaves grow in a semi- erect position, averaging 11-13 inches in width and 24-30 inches in length with good overall yields. Maturity is in 60-65 days. The leaves turn yellow about 4 weeks after topping, whereas, KY 171 stays green making the "PY" strain easier to color cure. Nicotine level by dry weight 5.31% compared to 4.70% for KY 171.
Havana 608 is a cigar filler or binder tobacco. It grows to 6' closely spaced leaves and matures in about 65 days. The leaves are a very bright green and upturned with slightly down turned tips. It holds up well during inclement weather and the pyramidal shape gives it good wind resistance. The leaves turn a light yellow green with yellowing at the edges when ripe. Plants average 20 harvestable leaves per plant, and are 14"-16" in width and 20" long. Air cures to a medium brown.
Shirey is a dark Virginian type tobacco with a mild flavor but with a fuller richer flavor than Virginia Golds have. It is an an excellent tobacco for a cigarette or pipe blend. It produces a large leaf that air cures easily to a medium brown. It is a hardy plant and with stands moderate late season frosts. Grows to a height of 5 1/2 to 6 feet and matures in 65 days.
The American 14 Tobacco is Bright Leaf tobacco variety that is imported from Ukraine that will produce 30 leaves per plant. This variety is a tall plant reaching 6' or more in height and is drought tolerant and sunburn resistant. Each American 14 leaf can reach 30" long and 15" wide.
Little Cuba is a small bush like plant that matures very early. Blooms first appear in 28 days. Clipping the blooms will encourage more growth from below and 3-4 new branches will grow up to 3'-4' high. This will increase the yield of this small Cuban type tobacco and a second bloom will appear at about 60 days. The leaves are between 7"-10" in width and 10"-14" long. Leaves appearing before the first bloom will ripen first becoming a mottled yellow with yellow edges.
Shargo originated in eastern Europe and is a hybrid cross between a white stemmed Burley and a Turkish strain. It has the vigorous growth and high production of a white stemmed Burley and yellows in the field as it reaches flowering and maturity at about 70 days. It has a spicy flavor more like many Turkish strains. It can be cut and hung whole or primed and strung to cure and dry. The plants grow to 7-8 feet in height to the bloom producing 16-20 leaves ranging from 13-17 inches in width and 24-28 inches in length. Magnolia is a cigar wrapper which produces a high quality oval shaped leaf averaging 16" wide by 20" to 24" long. It grows to 8' in height, maturing in 65-70 days and produces 24-26 harvestable leaves. It has little to no suckering before topping. The leaves turn a lighter green with yellowing tips and mottling when ripe. Magnolia is very similar to Moonlight, but it produces 2-3 less leaves per plant and matures 7-10 days earlier.
Burley 64 is a columnar formed plant growing to 6' in height, and reaches maturity in about 65 days. It is a white stemmed burley with large light green leaves that turn bright yellow as they ripen. It gives good yields with very little suckering, and cures easily, either stalk hung or primed. Burley 64 is resistant to black root rot, tobacco mosaic virus, fusarium wilt, and black shank.
Golden Burley is a medium flavored Burley with excellent curability. The leaves grow up to 30" long by 12" wide, and turn a bright lemon yellow when ripe. Virginia Bright Leaf is an heirloom variety dating back many decades. It averages 6' in height with 18-20 leaves per plant below the crows foot. It reaches maturity when blooms appear at 55 days. The light green leaves average 12" wide by 24" long and become a light yellow/green when ripe. Leaves began to ripen as the plant reaches bloom. Air cures easily to a light golden brown with yields averaging 3 oz of dried leaf per plant.
