Urban Farmer cucumber varieties are trialed on our farm for flavor, yield, shape and disease resistance. We offer a wide selection of slicing, pickling, specialty and greenhouse specific cucumbers. These cucumber varieties will do well for home gardens and market growers.

Pioneer F1 is a dependable hybrid pickling cucumber that reaches harvest in about 50–53 days. This non-GMO, gynoecious annual produces vigorous, indeterminate vines that deliver heavy, consistent yields across a wide range of growing conditions. Fruits are uniform, blocky, medium green cucumbers with black spines, averaging about 3 inches long and 1 inch in diameter—ideal for pickling but equally enjoyable fresh. Pioneer performs well in fields, garden beds, raised beds, containers with support, and greenhouse settings. With resistance to Alternaria leaf spot, scab, and downy mildew, this widely adapted variety is a reliable choice for both home gardeners and commercial growers alike.

The Poinsett 76 Cucumber is a great slicing cucumber, as it is delicious cut up in salads or on sandwiches. This cucumber variety produces thick beautiful dark green fruits. The sun-loving Poinsett 76 will get to be 6-8 inches long when mature. This organic favorite is resistant to most cucumber diseases such as downy mildew, powdery mildew, angular leaf spot and anthracnose.

The Armenian Mix is a mixture of Pale and Dark Armenian cucumbers! Enjoy a combination of both pale and dark Armenian cucumbers which produce mild-tasting, deeply ribbed cucumbers. These elongated cucumbers yield uniform, easily digestible, fluted slices. The Armenian Mix is best grown on a trellis to produce straight and long cucumbers. These cucumbers can reach 24 inches long, but are best harvested at about 18 inches.

The Brown Russian cucumber looks like it came from another planet, and is fitting because the taste is out of this world! The brown-skinned 6-8" cucumbers have a clear white flesh that has a crisp, mellow flavor sparked with sugary high notes and no bitterness. This cucumber is best harvested at 5-7" in. long, prolific and hardy.

Long, ribbed, dark green fruits grow up to 18 inches and offer a mild, sweet, burpless flavor—one of our favorites for fresh eating. This productive and eye-catching heirloom from northern China produces heavy yields on vigorous 5' vines. A parthenocarpic variety, it sets fruit without pollinators, making it an excellent choice for greenhouse growing. Expect tender, crisp cucumbers with thin skin and few seeds. Trellis for straighter fruit. Heat tolerant and disease resistant, it’s a dependable and delicious addition to any garden.

The Ashley cucumber is great for hot Southern weather and has great downy mildew resistance! This variety was released by Clemson Agricultural in 1956 and produces very productive vines that produce 8", dark green cucumbers. Ashley is known to be a very good slicing variety!

The SMR 58 cucumber is a vigorous standard pickling cucumber. This variety is an improvement over older varieties for it to be top producing and disease resistant. The SMR 58 can be grown on a fence or trellis for extra support.

The Double Yield cucumber is an excellent variety for gherkins and dills. The slender cucumbers are 5-6" long by 2" diameter and remains a dark-green color longer than most cucumbers. The Double Yield cucumber plant has high yields and a high percentage of sets producing two cucumbers at each leaf joint!

The Manny cucumber is a Beit-Alpha type cucumber that is ideal for greenhouse cultivation. This cucumber variety is fast growing and high resistant to disease. This slicing cucumber is perfect for commercial growing.

The Muncher cucumber is a favorite low acid slicer that is very prolific and tender. This cucumber plant variety produces a smooth nearly spineless, medium green cucumber that is crisp and delicious. Muncher can be pickled when young or eaten fresh when it reach 8-10" long and 2-3" wide. This cucumber's skin is thin and tasty, as it is easily eaten. The Muncher is non-bitter burpless cucumber that produces heavy yields and definitely a favorite!

The Lemon cucumber is very tender, clean, crisp and sweet taste that is never bitter! This variety is a great cucumber for salads and pickling. Don't be fooled by this heirloom's unusual shape, these bright yellow balls are excellent for salads and pickling! This plant produces regular-sized vines that yield heavily and for a long time.

Spacemaster 80 cucumber seeds produce a compact, bush-type variety that was developed for gardeners with limited space, making it a popular choice since the late 20th century. Unlike traditional vining cucumbers, Spacemaster 80 plants grow just 2–3 feet long while still yielding full-sized fruits, making them perfect for containers, small plots, and raised beds. The dark green cucumbers reach about 7–9 inches in length, with a smooth, tender skin and crisp, refreshing flesh. This variety matures in about 60 days and is known for its disease resistance and heavy yields despite its compact size.
