Sow cloves September – November for harvest the following July. *Check your zone’s suggestions for best results!*
Do not remove the skin of the clove! Separate each clove and place each one, pointed end up, about 6 in apart and with the tip of the clove 1-2 inches deep in rich, well drained soil. Plant deeper if you are expecting a lot of rain, as the soil may erode!
Fertilized, well-drained soil is always best! Do not compact the soil. Fertilize when spring growth starts. Water as needed and keep weeded.
Garlic usually matures between the early to mid-summer. Harvest when ½-¾ of the leaves have started to die back (yellow, and falling over). Cure the bulbs by leaving them in a warm spot for 1 week to 10 days. Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space, not the fridge!
