Growing your own forage for your chickens is a cheap, easy, and a highly nutritious way to feed your chickens. Chicken feed can be expensive to provide throughout the year. Growing your own from spring to fall provides high levels of nutrients that will make your eggs taste even better. Foraging chickens have a better balanced diet that creates better eggs and meat. This chicken forage blend is a mix of well balanced plants that chickens love to eat. Spread at 5 lbs. per 1,000-2,000 square feet. 100 lbs will cover 1 acre.
Mixture includes: Annual Ryegrass, Perennial Ryegrass, Buckwheat, Flax, Millet, Forage Peas, Red Clover, Alfalfa

Question
Michelle (verified owner) –
Can this be grown in flats for winter forage for chickens? Or would it be better to just grow rye grass, wheat, oats etc in separate containers?
Also, is it possible to use this combination to ‘sprout’ and feed that way?
Thank you,
Michelle

5 out of 5 GREAT forage blend!

I grew this for 9 chickens in a small test area to see if they’d enjoy it. I planted heavy and in 45 days had a THICK CARPET of greenery. I removed the fence and allowed the girls to dine. It took them no more than 3 days to eat through everything – they really enjoyed the variety of greens and the taste of everything!
We planted this forage blend to supplement free-ranging and lack of grass in the coming winter months. It was easy to grow and the chickens didn’t need any coaxing to start eating it.
ADDED BONUS: My eggs have the thickest, brightest orange yolks we have gotten in a LONG time.
Will be purchasing a larger bag in the spring so we can always grow this for a nice treat for our ladies.

5 out of 5 Easy to grow

My girls don’t get to free range so I plant this in small areas that they do get to roam in. I block off temporary areas and this grows quick and they live it. Thank you for this product.
