How to Grow Corn

Silver King corn is a sweet, all-white hybrid variety prized for its tender, juicy kernels and mild, delicious flavor. The Silver King is earlier than the Silver Queen variety and every bit as tasty. This corn is a Sugar Enhanced (SE) corn type that is amongst the earliest corns to mature. With slightly larger ears than of 16 to 18 tightly packed rows of snowy white kernels pack every ear of this succulent corn! The stalks reach 6 to 7 feet high and are wonderfully resilient, tolerating Rust, Stewart's Wilt, and Northern Corn Leaf Blight.

The Jubilee corn variety is an old-time favorite corn. Jubilee is one of the most popular varieties we sell and is excellent for late summer enjoyment. Its stalks reach 6 feet tall, and the 9 inch ears have deep, tender yellow kernels. You can pick it right off the stalk and cook for dinner. Jubilee is sure to make you happy as it is one of the great tasting corns on the market!

Carousel is an open-pollinated variety that produces 3.5" long miniature ears of popcorn. Some ears are solid red, the others are multicolored: white, yellow, and blue. When popped the flakes are crispy with very little hull. Plants are up to eight feet tall with two or three ears per plant.

The Ambrosia Corn is a sugar enhanced (SE) bi-color sweet corn with an excellent flavor. This F1 hybrid is a favored plump and juicy corn variety! Named for its delectable taste, Ambrosia has a mix of tasty white and yellow kernels! Ambrosia's 8" long ears are bursting with about 16 rows of jam-packed kernels. This corn will retain its flavor for up to 10 days.

The Country Gentleman corn is one of the best tasting open-pollinated corns available! This heirloom variety is a sweet, delicious corn with milky kernels that was first introduced over 100 years ago. Country Gentleman is a white variety with 8” ears. Its ears have no rows, as this is a shoepeg type, and its kernels are packed in a zigzag pattern. Country Gentleman is one of the best heirloom sweet corns in our opinion!

Sweetness begins with excellent emergence and vigor and continues its season with a sturdy plant that produces a nice ear with solid tip fill. Rebellion is a full season synthetic population derived from crosses among commercial and university corn belt dent inbred lines. Quite uniform Rebellion, it has the Ga1s trait to discourage cross pollination from unwanted pollen. Ga1s are naturally occurring traits in corn that will greatly reduce outcrossing with plants that don’t carry the same trait. This trait is called gametophytic incompatibility. This trait helps prevent accepting unwanted pollen from transgenic and other field corn. Rebellion was developed by Dr. Frank Kutka and the Seed We Need Project.

Dublin corn produces beautiful tall stalks that can reach 8-10' with 8-9" long ears. Originating from Dublin, Ontario this corn was developed for a short growing season. A high protein percentage of 10-11%, this variety can be used for flour, cornmeal, and by distilleries.
