Tulip Tree
Tulip-shaped flowers in yellow, green, and orange bloom high in the canopy of this towering, fast-growing shade tree. Its uniquely shaped leaves turn clear golden yellow in fall. Tall, straight trunks and broad crowns make it best suited to large yards, parks, and reforestation projects. Bees visit the flowers for nectar, and the leaves host tiger swallowtail butterflies. Many tulip tree seeds are naturally empty, so sow them thickly after a cold, moist rest to get a good stand of seedlings.
