Dogwood

Layered, horizontal branches give pagoda dogwood an elegant structure, while Pacific dogwood is known for its showy white bracts. Both brighten partial shade in spring and add colorful foliage in fall. Late-summer berries feed songbirds and other wildlife. These dogwoods shine as understory specimens beneath taller trees or along woodland edges. Their seed usually needs a warm spell followed by cold, so do not give up on a pot that stays bare through its first season.
