Jacaranda
Clouds of lavender-blue, bell-shaped flowers make jacaranda one of the most breathtaking sights of late spring. Soft, fernlike foliage forms an airy canopy with light, dappled shade. In frost-free climates it becomes a stunning shade, specimen, or street tree, and elsewhere it thrives in containers, as a houseplant, or as bonsai. Warm, sunny conditions encourage quick growth. Jacaranda is among the simpler tropical trees to start from seed, needing no pretreatment, though a short soak can speed it up.
