Havana 142 is classified as a cigar binder but is often used in making chew. Many growers find it makes an excellent cigarette tobacco as well. A good choice for areas with short growing seasons. Air cures to a light brown.

Sacred Cornplanter is a very hardy fast grower and produces some of the largest leaves among Rustica varieties. Like other Rusticas, it has a high nicotine content but the leaves produce a very light and mild smoke. It makes a good addition to blends where a mild flavor but a higher nicotine content is desired.

Shargo originated in eastern Europe and is a hybrid cross between a white stemmed Burley and a Turkish strain. It has a spicy flavor more like many Turkish strains. It can be cut and hung whole or primed and strung to cure and dry. The plants grow to 7-8 feet in height to the bloom producing 16-20 leaves ranging from 13-17 inches in width and 24-28 inches in length. Shargo's unique flavor, heavy production, and early ripening and ease of curing, make it an excellent choice for new and experienced growers alike.

Florida Sumatra is an heirloom tobacco that makes an excellent cigar wrapper when shade grown. It grows to 6 feet in height with leaves averaging 24 inches long and 15 inches wide.

Habano 2000 is derived from a crossing between the variety Corojo and a Cuban dark tobacco, the Habano 2.1.1, from which is derived its resistance to the Gray Mold. Grown in direct sun. it reaches an average height of 6 feet with 14-16 leaves per plant. In very rich soils it can develop up to 18 leaves per plant. Sun grown plants are often used as a binder or filler. Grown under a shade cloths, Habano 2000 makes an excellent wrapper.

Delhi 34 is a Bright Leaf Flu-cured tobacco tolerant of weather fleck and black root rot. It is tall growing reaching up to 7 feet including the flower head, with more leaves and less suckers than most varieties. The upright leaves are spaced closely on the stalk and shed water well in heavy rains and winds. The leaves turn a lighter green as it starts to mature, and become a light yellow green when ripe. It Flu cures to a bright yellow gold and air cures to a light golden brown with good yields. Leaf Count: 18-24

Burley 21 is heirloom Burley variety that is a long time favorite of growers. Its history dates back over 200 years. It grows to 6-7 feet and is a reliable producer of large heavy leaf. The leaves make a strong full flavored smoke that is commonly used as a blend in cigarettes, cigars and pipe tobaccos.

Golden Burley is a medium flavored Burley with excellent curability. The leaves grow up to 30" long by 12" wide, and turn a bright lemon yellow when ripe. Plants grow 5 to 6 feet in height with little to no suckering. Air cures to a light buck skin brown color. The smoke is flavorful, yet mild. Requires less aging time than most Burleys.

Olor produces a leaf of very good quality. The plant grows to 6' with little to no suckering. The leaves are light green, sharply pointed and average 14" wide and 20" to 22" long, becoming yellow as they ripen.

PY KY 171 is a pale yellow breeding line that is agronomically comparable to KY 171. It is a dark fire-cured tobacco with high resistance to black root rot, wildfire, and TMV. The plants grow to a height of 5-6 feet to the flower and produce from 14 to 17 leaves per plant. The leaves grow in a semi- erect position, averaging 11-13 inches in width and 24-30 inches in length with good overall yields.

The Paris Wrapper Tobacco variety is a great choice for a cigar wrapper, binder or cigarette tobacco as well as an ornamental tobacco. This tobacco is an heirloom bright leaf variety that is a vigorous early season grower reaching a height of 6 feet. Its leaves grow to 30" long and 20" wide. Paris Wrapper's leaves are a very light green with white stems.

Fast growing, early maturing tobacco plant. Matures to about 4-5 feet in height and has thick, waxy, dark green leaves. Fast-growing Rustica reaches maturity remarkably early. Four-to-five-foot plants carry thick waxy dark-green leaves. Compact timing benefits gardeners with shorter seasons. Simple sturdy growth distinguishes this traditional type.

Fast growing tobacco that is great for very short growing seasons. It can be planted out earlier than many other tobaccos and mature plants are frost tolerant. It is mild to smoke but has a high nicotine content.

Papante is a primitive variety that likely comes from southeastern area of the Mexican state of Sonora. A specimen is on display at the Conservation Center in Tucson, AZ. The plant's general appearance resembles that of both Little Dutch and Mountain Pima, though the leaf is a much darker green. It has been incorrectly listed and sold as Nicotiana rustica. Air-cures to a soft, light brown. Useful for cigarette, pipe blending and cigar filler. It’s relatively square secondary vein angle allows it to be used for cigar wrapper or binder.

One Sucker is a dark air cured heirloom tobacco. It grows 4-5' in height with dark green leaves. Long leaves that can reach upwards of 3'. It produces 15-16 leaves on average, frost resistance and excellent wind resistance.

An heirloom tobacco that originates from Maryland. A high yielding crop with sharp pointed leaves. Catterton will grow to over 30" tall and 16" wide when mature. Air cures easily to a rich reddish brown color. A medium flavored smoke which is excellent for cigarettes alone, or as a blend. Also used in cigars and pipe tobaccos.

Burley 9 is a high-yielding mid-season variety for air curing and drying. Leaves are light green, averaging 16" wide by 24" long. The leaves turn yellow as they ripen and dry to a light golden brown. Burley 9 is drought resistant and resistant to disease. 6%

It is a white stemmed burley with large light green leaves that turn bright yellow as they ripen. It gives good yields with very little suckering, and cures easily, either stalk hung or primed. Burley 64 is resistant to black root rot, tobacco mosaic virus, fusarium wilt, and black shank.

An heirloom dark tobacco with a rich full flavor. It's often fire cured for use as a pipe or cigar tobacco. Its deep colored green leaves air cure to a dark brown. It grows 5 feet in height and matures early.

Yellow Orinoco is an heirloom bright leaf which originated from the Virginian Orinoco's. It grows to 5' producing an average of 16 leaves per plant below the crows foot. Suckering is low, and is less than with White Stemmed or Frog Eye Orinoco. Leaves are light to medium green and average 12" to 14" wide and 24" to 26" long, with yields of 3 oz of dried leaf per plant. Leaves air cure to a light brown.

Limonka Rustica tobacco, also known simply as "Limonka," is a unique and highly sought-after variety prized for its distinctive flavor and aroma. Originating from the regions of Poland and Russia, Limonka Rustica is classified as a dark air-cured tobacco, known for its robustness and depth of flavor. The leaves of Limonka Rustica are typically medium to dark brown in color, with a slightly coarse texture.

Little Cuba is a small bush like plant that matures very early. Blooms first appear in 28 days. Clipping the blooms will encourage more growth from below and 3-4 new branches will grow up to 3'-4' high. This will increase the yield of this small Cuban type tobacco and a second bloom will appear at about 60 days. The leaves are between 7"-10" in width and 10"-14" long. Leaves appearing before the first bloom will ripen first becoming a mottled yellow with yellow edges.

Most commonly used as a cigar binder but may be used as a filler or pipe tobacco blend or in cigarettes. It produces large leaves, has a tight upright columnar form.

L'Assomption 201 is a cigar filler variety developed in Canada, at the L'Assomption Experimental Station during the 1930s. It is useful for as a cigar wrapper, binder and filler. The plant reaches a height of 4 1/2 to 5' at the crows foot and produces an average of 18 leaves. It can be primed or stalk-cut or stalk-cured and air-cures easily to a deep, medium brown.

KY15 is a white stemmed high yielding Kentucky Burley. It has multiple disease resistance with excellent yield potential. Forms a plant with closely packed leaves with almost no suckers. Leaves turn yellow as they ripen, curling down around the edges. Excellent for curing and hanging stalks. The leaves dry to a light orange brown. Highly resistant to tobacco mosaic virus, wild-fire, and black root rot. Medium to high resistance to Fusarium wilt and tolerance to TEV.

Tofta tobacco is a variety known for its rich flavor and versatility in tobacco products. While it may not be as widely recognized as some other tobacco types, Tofta tobacco typically boasts medium to dark brown leaves with a moderate texture. Its flavor profile tends to be robust and earthy, often accompanied by subtle sweet and spicy undertones.

TN 86, is the first burley tobacco variety having good resistance to TVMV and TEV diseases. TN 86 was released by the University of Tennessee as a commercial cultivar in 1986. The new cultivar, which is also resistant to black shank, black root rot, wildfire, and most strains of potato virus Y. TN 86 consistently out yields other burley cultivars. The cured leaf is generally reddish-tan in color and has great smoking quality.

American 572 Tobacco is a tall variety producing aromatic, high-grade leaves on plants reaching approximately 6 feet. The foliage is suitable for air drying or flue curing and provides substantial harvest potential. Known for traditional Americana character and dependable leaf quality, this variety is valued by growers seeking a vigorous plant with versatile curing options.

Harrow Velvet is a medium flavored Burley with excellent curability and a short aging time. It has a columnar plant form with tightly spaced leaves which are very uniform in size. Almost no suckering. Leaves grow to 24" inches long by 14" wide when mature. Will go from green to golden yellow when fully mature. Leaf cures to a medium buckskin brown. An excellent plant for priming or to cut and hang whole. Very good wind resistance.

Havana 608 is a cigar filler or binder tobacco. The leaves are a very bright green and upturned with slightly down turned tips. It holds up well during inclement weather and the pyramidal shape gives it good wind resistance. The leaves turn a light yellow green with yellowing at the edges when ripe. Plants average 20 harvestable leaves per plant, and are 14"-16" in width and 20" long. Air cures to a medium brown.

Sylvestris is native to Argentina and is often called Woodland Tobacco. A good producer of leaves, but today is best known for its large trumpet shaped white flowers. The leaves have a nicotine content averaging 3.9%. Flowers appear on top of a 3-4 foot high stalk in 45-50 days, rising above the leaves and often form a cascading white waterfall effect. Sylvestris is a striking addition to any flower garden.
