Holy Basil Seeds

Grow your own sacred herb with Holy Basil seeds, known in India as Tulsi and treasured there for centuries. Its fragrant leaves carry a warm, spicy aroma with hints of clove and pepper. Gardeners often dry the leaves for soothing herbal teas or add fresh sprigs to savory dishes. Bushy plants bear slender spikes of lavender flowers that draw bees and butterflies to the garden. Start seeds indoors before the last frost or direct sow once the soil has warmed.

    Holy (Tulsi), Basil Seed

Holy Basil, also known as Tulsi, is a sacred and beloved herb with a warm, spicy aroma reminiscent of clove and pepper. Ocimum tenuiflorum forms bushy plants with fragrant green-to-purple tinged leaves and slender spikes of small lavender flowers that bees and pollinators adore. The leaves are traditionally steeped for a soothing herbal tea and are also used fresh in cooking. Plants grow 18-24” tall and thrive in warm weather and full sun, so wait until all danger of frost has passed before planting out. Pinch the flower spikes regularly to encourage more leafy growth, and dry some leaves for winter use!
