About Mission Bells, Poppy Seed
Mission Bells is a heirloom mix of California Poppies with semi-double and double, ruffled flowers in shades of apricot, orange, pink, red, white, and yellow. The satiny, cup-shaped blooms sit above fern-like gray-green foliage on plants 12-18 inches tall and flower through spring and summer, putting on the best show when sown en masse. Mission Bells is drought tolerant, low maintenance, and self-sows readily in most areas. It is a short-lived perennial in zones 8-10 and is grown as an annual in colder climates.

Tips
Pests & Diseases
Poppies may develop downy mildew, powdery mildew, Botrytis, damping-off, or bacterial blight. Thin seedlings early and remove plants with distorted, gray-purple growth beneath leaves. Avoid saving seed from blighted capsules, rotate planting sites, and clear volunteer poppies that perpetuate disease.
Tender growth and blooms on poppy may be damaged by aphids, thrips, spider mites, beetles, slugs, or caterpillars. Use hand removal for larger pests and targeted, labeled controls for confirmed infestations, avoiding sprays during pollinator activity.
