About Ivory Castle, Poppy Seed
Ivory Castle is a California Poppy cultivar with single, satiny flowers in creamy white to pale ivory, each with a soft yellow center, set against feathery blue-green foliage. Plants grow 12-18 inches tall and bloom about 6-8 weeks after sowing, flowering through spring and summer. Ivory Castle is drought tolerant, thrives in poor, sandy soil, and reseeds readily. It is a short-lived perennial in zones 8-10 and is grown as an annual in colder climates. Self-sown seedlings may occasionally revert to orange.

Tips
Pests & Diseases
Poppies may develop downy mildew, powdery mildew, Botrytis, damping-off, or bacterial blight. Thin seedlings early and remove plants with distorted, gray-purple growth beneath leaves. Avoid saving seed from blighted capsules, rotate planting sites, and clear volunteer poppies that perpetuate disease.
Tender growth and blooms on poppy may be damaged by aphids, thrips, spider mites, beetles, slugs, or caterpillars. Use hand removal for larger pests and targeted, labeled controls for confirmed infestations, avoiding sprays during pollinator activity.
