How the date is calculated
More than simple date addition
The uploaded spreadsheet repeats plantings at a chosen interval and works backward from the fall frost date. This version also includes a crop-specific frost allowance and a fall slow-growth buffer.
Start with your fall frost date.Cold-hardy crops may continue beyond it; tender crops do not.
2Subtract maturity time. The calculator uses the value for your chosen variety.
3Allow for slower fall growth.Shorter days can delay maturity even before freezing weather.
Best crops for repeating
Focus on short harvest windows
Leaf lettuce, radishes, spinach, bush beans, beets, cucumbers, and sweet corn benefit most from repeated plantings. Tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, winter squash, melons, and onions usually occupy the garden for most of the season.
A calculated date is a planning estimate. Soil temperature, heat, rainfall, variety, latitude, and pest pressure can shift both maturity and harvest.

Data and planning references
Default maturity ranges and intervals are planning baselines. Always replace them with the value printed for the exact variety you are planting.
