Timing your lettuce harvest
Days are counted from direct seeding to full-size heads; baby leaf is ready in about 25–30 days. Lettuce grows best between 45°F and 75°F, so sow in early spring and again in late summer for fall. For summer crops, choose varieties marked heat tolerant or slow bolting and give them afternoon shade.
