Indeterminate or determinate?

Days to maturity are counted from transplanting to first ripe fruit. Indeterminate vines keep growing and fruiting until frost and need tall stakes or cages. Determinate plants stay compact, ripen over a shorter window and suit containers. Pick small tomatoes when fully colored and before heavy rain to limit cracking.
