When to plant carrots

Sow carrots directly in the garden 2–3 weeks before your last spring frost, then every 3 weeks until midsummer for a steady supply. A late-summer sowing gives sweet fall and winter carrots. Keep the soil surface moist until seedlings emerge, which can take 1–3 weeks.
