About Dulce Nectar, (F1) Melon Seed, Melon Seed

Dulce Nectar Honeydew is super sweet with extra juicy flesh. Ripens midseason and grows well in a wide range of climates. Does well in hot weather and poor soil conditions. Produces oval, smooth and a creamy shade of white, with pale green flesh within. Once ripe these melons will harvest between 5 to 6 pounds melons. Resistant to powdery mildew and tobacco mosaic virus.

Before Planting

Give Melon a full-sun, warm location with fertile, well-drained soil and ample space for vines. Wait until the soil is warm, and install trellises before planting if melon will be trained vertically.

Planting

Melon can be direct-sown after frost when soil reaches about 65–70°F, or started indoors 3–4 weeks earlier in individual cells. Keep the medium warm and evenly moist until emergence. Harden seedlings gradually and transplant without disturbing the sensitive roots. Space trellised melons 18–24 inches apart or ground-running vines 3–5 feet apart.

Watering

Maintain steady moisture around melon, especially from flowering through fruit enlargement. Water deeply rather than frequently sprinkling, and avoid alternating severe dryness with heavy irrigation.

Fertilizer

Feed melon during active growth with a balanced vegetable fertilizer. Keep nitrogen moderate after flowering begins to prevent excessive vines or leaves at the expense of fruit.

Harvesting
