All American Selection

All-America Selections is an independent non-profit organization that tests new, never-before-sold varieties for the home gardener. After a full season of anonymous trialing by volunteer horticulture professionals, only the top garden performers are given the AAS Winner award designation for their superior performance.

The Radiance Cosmo is a radiant flower variety that produces very stunning rose-colored petals that have a deep crimson eye. This popular variety was the All America Selections winner in 1948. Radiance is a suitable for cutting, beds and borders, and the pollinator garden.

The Golden Jubilee Tomato has a meaty, thick, golden-orange skin with a mild flavor and is an All American Selection winning tomato! This medium sized beefsteak has low acidity and high Vitamin C content, making it a great choice for fresh eating and perfect for home gardens! This tomato variety's fruits are produced in a heavy yield from upright and uniform indeterminate vines, which makes this variety easy to manage. The Golden Jubilee was first introduced in 1943 by the Maule Seed Company of Philadelphia and has a flavor that is not too strong and pairs well with other ingredients.

The Siam Queen Basil is a newer variety of basil that is perfect for adding into any Thai cuisine, especially fish and beef dishes! This variety's young shoots are perfect for a continual harvest throughout the whole season.

Thumbelina carrots are tender and sweet with no need to peel! It is the perfect bit size for fresh eating, stews and salads. Thumbelina's small size makes it a great choice for heavy or shallow soils or containers. No wonder it is an All-America Selections Winner from 1992!

The Red Salad Bowl is a very popular loose-leaf heirloom lettuce that is heat resistant. This variety is an appealing, slow bolting deep red leaf lettuce with finely divided leaves. The Red Salad Bowl has a sweet and tender flavor and is a colorful delight for many dishes and salads! This variety is a favorite for being quick grow and great for cut and come again harvesting.

Early maturing cabbage with tight heads! Stonehead is a fast grower with 6" heads that average between 4-6 lbs. when mature. Good texture and flavor. This hybrid resist yellow and black rot very well. A great market variety that matures early, won't split and holds well after harvest. Grows well throughout the United States. An All American Selection winner in 1969.

An All American Selection Pepper, need we say more! The Gypsy pepper is a yellow to orange hot pepper. Grows to about 2x4" in size. Excellent when used in salads, frying, or stews.

The Congo Watermelon is a wonderful tasting, gigantic sized, long, dark green watermelon that can grow to be up to 50 lbs.! This variety produces a firm and sweet flesh that has 9.4% sugar. As a fully grown watermelon, it can be over 2' long and 1' wide! It's skin has deep green stripes on a medium green body.

The Caserta Zucchini is an early bush cocozelle that was a 1949 AAS winner. This spiny semi-open cut leaf plant can set 30 cylindrical slightly tapered fruits. This variety has a thin light-green skin with dark-green stripes and a firm creamy-white flesh, making it perfect for baking! Pick Caserta when 4-6 in. x 2-3.5 in. for the most tender and delicious taste!

The Purple Ruffles Basil is a large, heavily ruffled and fringed dark purple leaf variety with beautiful pink-purple flowers. This All-American Selections winner basil is the perfect pop of color for herb gardens or a flower border. This basil produces a sweet fragrance and flavor that is wonderful as a garnish in salads, soups, pasta or drinks.

The perfect choice for first-time kohlrabi growers as well as those kohlrabi veterans. Konan has a smooth, globe-shaped bulbs that can grow up to 6 inches in diameter and are the perfect upright size and shape for container gardening and garden plots.

Honey Select Sweet corn is known for it's tenderness, flavor and of course, sweetness. No wonder this variety is an All American Selection winner! Honey Select corn is a yellow Triplesweet that will produce large ears with medium-green husks and good flags. Honey Select produces a very high quality ear that can average 8.5" in length with 18-20.
