Seed Starting

Seed Starting

Giving your seeds the very best chance to germinate and develop healthy foliage is an important first step. Most seeds should be started indoors before the last frost date in spring. Using these supplies will give you a good start to the garden season.

Each 1.5″ cube is the perfect receptacle for a single seed – Use them for sprouts, microgreens, or any other seedling starts. They’ll retain moisture and provide the ideal material for root development. When ready for potting on or transplanting into the garden bed, the hemp fibre is 100% biodegradable, and will break down to nothing in the soil. Each sheet is cut so that the cubes are attached but easily separated. Each cube is perforated with a seed hole for simple planting. Great alternative for hydroponic media. 98 cubes per sheet.

These are standard germination trays with slots for uniform drainage. Most inserts and flats will fit perfectly into these trays. They can also be used for microgreens, allowing you to save on growing media costs. Outside dimensions: Width (in.): 10.94 Length (in.): 21.44 Depth (in.): 2.44

Round Fertilpots (6 3/4" diameter x 6 1/3" high) are biodegradable wood fiber pots composed primarily of Spruce (Picea Abies) fibers and are manufactured without the use of glues or binders. These are not peat pots! Fertilpots are truly biodegradable and are intended to be planted directly in the ground or the next larger container. Unlike rice-hull pots, starch-based polymers, or 'biodegradable' plastics, Fertilpots do not require a composting situation to degrade. Because water, air, and roots will penetrate the walls of the fertilpot so easily, there is no need for drainage holes. The natural root structure that develops helps to ensure a successful transplant. No other container, biodegradable, compostable or plastic, can allow a more natural development of the plants' root structure. Fertilpot is excellent for native plant material that can often be sensitive to transplant. Because the plant is never removed from the fertilpot, there is never any transplant shock. Fertilpot has been proven very successful in the production of vegetables, grafted wine grapes, forestry stock, as well as a range of annual and perennial crops.
