The blooms are always a colorful surprise when planted in groups in the flower garden.
Beautiful flowers that you can bring indoors throughout winter! The blooms are always a colorful surprise when planted in groups in the flower garden. In the garden they bloom for several months and as a cut flower the individual stems will last for 7 to 10 days. Plant the bulbs in a rich soil with a lot of organic matter such as compost and manure. The bulbs will do best in a sunny and warm spot in a pot or directly in the garden.
Anemones are a beautiful ground cover. They come in a vibrant mixture of colors that will grab your neighbors attention. Anemones grow great in pots, barrels and tubs!
Anemone bulbs should be soaked in water overnight before planting. This will encourage good root growth in fall.
Anemones should receive full to partial sun. Soil should be well drained. Adding compost right before planting will help with drainage.
Depth and Spacing:
Plant bulbs 1-2” deep and 2-4” apart.
Plant in fall. After planting, water well to settle the soil around the bulbs. Roots will form in the fall. A few sprouts may also develop in autumn if you live in a warm region. More substantial top growth and flower stems will form in the spring.
When in bloom, cut for beautiful blooms indoors. After blooming leave foliage and water weekly. This will help with root growth. When leaves turn yellow and die back foliage may be removed.
